Dear Friends,
Last week the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) added the Racer Trust site (formerly the Willow Run Plant) in Ypsilanti Township to its list of PFAS sites. This means that samples taken on the site have shown elevated levels of PFAS chemicals. The site, home to heavy industrial activity for many decades, has a variety of contamination issues and has been closely monitored for years.
I have been assured by EGLE that there is no imminent threat to the public or our drinking water, but like you, I have questions and concerns.
Please join me and my special guest Ypsilanti Township Supervisor Brenda Stumbo this Thursday evening at New Covenant Baptist Church to hear directly from EGLE officials what being declared a Michigan PFAS Site means and how it may affect the day-to-day lives of local residents.
WHAT: Town Hall Meeting with State EGLE officials
WHERE: New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church, 2345 Tyler Road
WHEN: Thursday, June 20, from 6:30 – 8 p.m.
I hope to see you there,
Sincerely,
Ronnie Peterson
