Legislative Update
- HB 4246 (Rep. Maddock) would have cut public transportation funding and shift it to the roads budget. While we must work across the aisle to fix our state’s roads, we can’t afford to cut vital public transportation services. I voted NO on this bill because the implications would have far-reaching and adverse effects on many residents of Detroit.
- SB 282 (Sen. VanderWall) would amend the Public Health Code to ensure that all life support vehicles are equipped with opioid antagonists and emergency medical service personnel are adequately trained to administer the antagonists. I voted YES.
- SB 192 (Sen. Victory) would update the Michigan vehicle code and waives the night-time driving requirement for individuals holding a graduated drivers license. I voted YES.

Michigan 2-1-1 is a free service that connects Michigan residents with help and answers from thousands of health and human services agencies and resources right in their communities—quickly, easily and confidentially.
When Michigan residents need help with childcare, mounting bills, shelter for the night and more, 2-1-1 offers a one-stop connection to thousands of local agencies and resources that can help—24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The service is available by dialing 2-1-1 from any phone or by dialing the universal toll-free number at (844) 875-9211. You can also search for services using our guided search option on this site or conduct your own custom search.
You can also use 2-1-1 resources by visiting them online at their website.

I will be participating in the District 7 Association community town hall tonight, Wednesday, July 10, at 6 p.m., featuring an important question and answer session. In addition to myself, several special guests will also be present:

Community Hero Spotlight
Willie Dickerson is the President of the Pride Area Community Council as well as an activist for local issues. Mr. Dickerson has been on the front lines working and advocating for positive and lasting change for years. It is with great pleasure we spotlight Willie Dickerson as our Community Hero for the outstanding work he has accomplished and continues to do.
