STERLING HEIGHTS – State Representative-Elect Henry Yanez, who will represent the 25th House District, took the oath of office today in Sterling Heights. Representative-Elect Yanez will officially begin his first term in office on Jan. 1, 2013.
“I am humbled for the privilege to be elected to the House of Representatives and have the opportunity to help craft legislation to fulfill the promises I gave the voters: guaranteeing our children have a quality education, honoring our middle-class way of life and protecting our senior citizens,” Yanez said.
The Hon. Douglas P. Shepherd, 41-A District Court judge, administered the oath of office to Yanez today at a ceremony held at the Sterling Heights High School Performing Arts Theater. Yanez was joined at the swearing in by family and friends.
“I have been lucky to serve the people of the district as a firefighter and paramedic for nearly two decades,” said Yanez. “They have now entrusted me to do what is right for them in Lansing and I will never lose sight or forget who it is I am representing.”
