LANSING, Mich., Jan. 13, 2021 — State Rep. Richard Steenland (D-Roseville) was sworn in today as representative for the 2021-2022 legislative session. The swearing-in ceremony marked the formal opening of Michigan’s 101st Legislature.
“Roseville has always been my home, and for my neighbors and friends to trust me with this responsibility is truly a humbling experience,” said Steenland. “My community deserves a state government that works for them, and I am looking forward to fighting to expand health care access, prioritizing worker-centric policies that empower our families, and protecting our natural resources.”
Rep. Steenland is serving his first term representing the 22nd House District, which includes the city of Roseville and part of the city of Warren. A lifelong Roseville resident, Steenland graduated from Carl Brablec High School in 1979, and went on to attend Oakland University. He has a long history of community service, including time on the Roseville City Council, where he served as Mayor Pro Tem for a term in 2005 and as City Clerk from 2007 up until his election to the House.
