Getting Kids & Educators Back to School Safely as soon as possible
While the COVID-19 pandemic has affected all of us, perhaps none more intensely than Michigan’s students and teachers. While we swiftly took steps to slow the spread of the virus and save lives, students and teachers were forced to quickly adapt to a new method of instruction very few were familiar with.
Michigan educators and administrators went above and beyond to continue teaching remotely, but it can never truly replace the classroom experience. Michigan House Democrats are working to get students and teachers back into the classroom safely and as quickly as possible by:
- Delivering Critical School Funding to help meet Gov. Whitmer’s goal of providing every student an opportunity for safe, in-person learning by March 1, 2021. This additional funding will be used to put necessary virus mitigation measures in place while recognizing the additional costs associated with supporting students in poverty and students with special education needs.
