LANSING, Mich., Jan. 27, 2021 — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer delivered her State of the State address tonight, outlining her vision for Michigan and calling for bipartisan collaboration to address the ongoing issues facing communities during the pandemic. In response, state Rep. Jim Haadsma (D- Battle Creek) issued the following statement:

“2020 was, of course, a remarkably difficult year for communities all across our state, and those challenges have not simply gone away with a flip of the calendar. Though we are beginning to see a light at the end of the tunnel, there is much work left to be done. Tonight we heard the governor put forth a comprehensive plan to ensure Michiganders receive the support they need as we continue to fight COVID-19, and I am looking forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to make certain it is realized. Only through bipartisan cooperation will we be sure that the students, teachers, frontline workers, small businesses and every resident of Michigan get the help they deserve.”
