WARREN, Mich., April 7, 2021 — State Rep. Lori Stone (D-Warren) partnered with several of her colleagues to welcome and recognize the great work of children’s book authors in Michigan throughout National Reading Month. Each day, while the Legislature was in session, lawmakers on both sides of the aisle led by Rep. Stone recognized children’s book authors from their districts and presented the authors with commemorative tributes.
“Children’s literature inspires creativity, captures imaginations, takes children on adventures and delights minds with wondrous information,” said Stone. “The contribution to children’s literature deserves to be celebrated. We have so many wonderfully talented authors right here in Michigan, and I am so grateful to have gotten to know so many of them over the last month and uplift their personal and written stories.”
In addition to recognizing children’s authors during March, Rep. Stone also spent time reading virtually to students from the following elementary schools: Center Line Public Library, Peck, Roose, Lincoln, Crothers, Mound Park, Carlson, Schofield and Westview. Rep. Stone was also recognized by as a Literacy Ambassador by Fitzgerald Public Schools for her work encouraging children to read.
