LANSING — State Representative Adam F. Zemke (D-Ann Arbor) announced today that he has been named to the SAE Foundation Board of Trustees. The foundation is the charitable arm of the Society of Automotive Engineers and administers learning programs and scholarships to guide children toward education and careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields.
“STEM jobs are the middle class careers of Michigan’s future, and we need to excite kids about these fields if we’re going to be competitive in the 21st century economy,” Zemke said. “I’m proud to join the SAE Foundation, and I look forward to advancing the reach of STEM education.”
Zemke, who holds bachelor’s and graduate degrees in mechanical engineering from Michigan State University, was heavily involved with the MSU Formula SAE car team in college. He will serve a three-year term on the board.
