“Senate Bill 956 is full of faulty timelines, unreasonable mandates and undefined terms. If implemented, it would cause more chaos and harm than any problem it attempts to solve — but that is what happens when legislation is made in a vacuum for political gain rather than in consultation with experts in the field. This kind of shortsighted hasty legislation is not only irresponsible but wholly unacceptable. Our elders who built Michigan with their hands deserve better than this. Over the past several months, I have dedicated a lot of time to visiting facilities, consulting with experts and working with my legislative colleagues to find the best ways to ensure our seniors and their caregivers have the resources and protections they need to stay safe while receiving care.”
