LANSING, Mich., Sept. 16, 2021 – Ford announced today that their Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn is complete, and the first F-150 Lightning pre-production trucks are leaving the factory for real-world testing. Ford also announced plans to invest an additional $250 million to create 450 jobs in Dearborn, Ypsilanti, and Sterling Heights to support the production of the new F-150 Lightning. In response, House Democratic Leader Donna Lasinski (D-Scio Township) issued the following statement:
“Michigan’s economic foundation was built on the auto manufacturing industry and the road to our economic future will be powered by electric vehicles. The innovation of companies like Ford is leading the charge to reduce our carbon footprint, and this investment in Michigan is bringing good-paying jobs to our community. This step represents the beginning of a new era for Michigan’s auto manufacturing industry.”
