I had the honor of introducing Michigan Children’s Author, and Grand Blanc resident, LaTashia Carter-Perry last week at the state Capitol. It was my privilege to recognize her contributions to children’s literature this March is Reading Month.  April In-District Coffee Hour
Please join me for my next in-person, socially-distanced coffee hour! Attendees will have an opportunity to discuss their thoughts and concerns about state government and our community with me in an informal setting where I will also provide a legislative update. Masks will need to be worn except when eating or drinking. I look forward to seeing you at my upcoming coffee hour.

I safely spoke with constituents at my last Coffee Hour at Sam’s Italian Restaurant in Mundy Township and provided a constituent with a tribute for her work in the community. Vaccines Open To All Adults Over 16 Starting in April
The state recently announced vaccine eligibility will be open to all residents 16 and older starting April 5. This is in addition to a recent announcement that the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) would be moving forward with vaccination of Michigan residents ages 50 and older with medical conditions or disabilities and caregiver family members and guardians who care for children with special health care needs on March 8. Also, beginning March 22, vaccine eligibility will expand to include all residents 50 years old and older and 16 and older with disabilities or medical conditions which put them at high risk of negative outcomes from COVID-19.
Genesee County Vaccine Update
Genesee County residents can still pre-register to get the COVID-19 vaccine at the Genesee County Health Department website, by clicking here. I will continue to work with the Genesee County delegation, the county health department, county commissioners and the governor to ensure our area secures the necessary doses to keep our community safe and protected. I also encourage you to register with Walgreens, Rite-Aid, Meijer and Walmart, to increase your chances of getting the vaccine. These pharmacies receive vaccines on their own schedule and do not have to report them to the state. I will continue to work with these groups until each Genesee County resident who wants a COVID vaccine, gets them.

COVID Emergency Rental Assistance (CERA) Program
The Michigan State Housing Development Authority is administering a new program with the assistance of nonprofit agencies across Michigan to help those facing the threat of eviction. The COVID Emergency Rental Assistance (CERA) Program can provide support to those who are struggling to cover both rent and utility bills, so they can retain their housing stability. Help for Home Heating Bills
The federal COVID-19 relief package and other sources have supplied Michigan with tens of millions of dollars to assist households and small businesses pay their winter high energy bills. People who are struggling to pay their heating bills should call 2-1-1, a free helpline that connects individuals to nonprofits or go to mi211.org. Below are several other helpful links to get support from our state funding.
