Tax Day Filing Extension The deadlines to file state and federal tax has been extended to May 17 of this year. COVID-19 Update While most of the population is now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, social distancing and wearing face masks are still extremely important to stop the virus from spreading.

Earth Day April 22 is Earth Day! As an elected official, I look for policies our state can implement to become more Earth friendly. That is why the first piece of legislation I introduced, House Bill 4331, works to expand one of Michigan’s most innovative pieces of legislation: The Bottle Bill Law. Our bottle return system has already incentivized the recycling of bottles and cans for over four decades. However, as the use of single-use beverage containers continues to increase, we must tailor the law to keep up with the additional waste. HB 4331 creates a universal bottle return system and makes all single-use beverage containers (excluding dairy products) eligible for in-store returns. This means you can make the most of your trip to the grocery store by bringing along your plastic water bottles and craft beer cans regardless of where you purchased them. The bill also allocates funds to clean contaminated sites and support local recycling incentives across Michigan.
