LANSING — State Representative Scott Dianda (D-Calumet) today was sworn in to his inaugural term representing the residents of the western Upper Peninsula in the Michigan House of Representatives. The lawmaker, along with the other 109 members of the Michigan House, took part in a ceremonial swearing in with the other 109 members during the official opening of the 97th session of the Michigan House of Representatives in Lansing. Dianda was joined by his legislative staff, Danielle Stein, Curtis Audette and Elise Matz, as well as friends and family.
“I’m excited to finally give the residents of the 110th district true representation and work in their best interests,” said Dianda, a former small-business owner and transportation maintenance worker for the Michigan Department of Transportation. “I will fight for our middle class, our seniors, and most importantly, our kids’ future. I will ensure that our unique needs here in the U.P. are met in Lansing, and I will never forget who it is that I work for: the people of this great district.”
During his first term, Dianda will fight to protect and create good-paying jobs for workers by attracting new industries to the Upper Peninsula and combating threats to collective bargaining. He also will promote the wise use of natural resources and work to reform state government to ensure that it uses our taxpayer dollars more efficiently and effectively. Dianda will also work to restore funding to the School Aid Fund.
