LANSING, Mich., Jan. 26, 2022 — Today, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer delivered her fourth State of the State address from Detroit Diesel. Her remarks highlighted her proposals to support small businesses, cut taxes and reduce costs for working families. In response, state Rep. Mary Cavanagh (D-Redford) issued the following statement:
“I support Gov. Whitmer’s bold vision to tackle some of the most important issues that Michigan workers and families face today. Rising costs, an ongoing pandemic, and a mental health epidemic threaten the livelihoods and health of Michiganders across the state. As we look to the new year, initiatives such as boosting the Earned Income Tax Credit and repealing the retirement tax will give families and those on a fixed income much-needed breathing room. This is just the start, and I look forward to working with the governor to make our shared goals a reality.”
