LANSING, Mich., Jan. 26, 2022 — Today, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer delivered her fourth State of the State address from Detroit Diesel. Her remarks highlighted her proposals to support small businesses, cut taxes and reduce costs for working families. In response, state Rep. Brenda Carter (D-Pontiac) issued the following statement:
“Our goals should always be to move the state forward, and the proposals Gov. Whitmer outlined tonight show that we are doing just that. Repealing the retirement tax, investing in mental health, lower drug prices and increasing the Earned Income Tax Credit will provide Michiganders the resources and tools they need to succeed. I’m ready to get the ball moving on these priorities to improve the lives of Michiganders in our community.”
