LANSING, Mich., Jan. 26, 2022 — Today, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer delivered her fourth State of the State address from Detroit Diesel. Her remarks highlighted proposals that put Michiganders first by growing Michigan’s economy, creating jobs, cutting taxes and lowering costs for families. In response, State Rep. Cynthia A. Johnson (D-Detroit) issued the following statement:
“The government is here to serve the people and help them tackle the challenges they face head-on. From helping families with the Earned Income Tax Credit or creating more good-paying jobs, I’m proud of the plan Gov. Whitmer laid out tonight to create a brighter future in Michigan. Now it’s time to focus on growing racial equity in the workforce and getting to work for the people of Detroit and deliver the relief and assistance they need.”
