LANSING, Mich., Jan. 27, 2022 — Last night, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer delivered her fourth State of the State address from Detroit Diesel. Her remarks highlighted her proposals to support small businesses, cut taxes and reduce costs for working families. In response, State Rep. Sarah Anthony (D-Lansing) issued the following statement:
“I wholeheartedly support the governor’s vision for Michigan in 2022. The governor understands that we need a tax system that works for everyone, not just the wealthy. I support her decision to repeal the pension tax and increase the Earned Income Tax Credit for low-wage workers. This will lift tens of thousands of Michiganders out of poverty and ensure our seniors can retire with a clear mind. Already this year, we’ve worked together to create thousands of good-paying auto manufacturing jobs in Lansing. I can’t wait to see what else we can accomplish under her leadership.”
