LANSING, Mich., Feb. 24, 2022—Yesterday, state Rep. Sarah Anthony (D-Lansing) hosted a reception in the Michigan State Capitol to celebrate the Lansing Catholic Central football team on their Michigan High School Athletic Association Football Division 6 State Championship win. Family members, coaches and Capital Area elected officials joined the players for the presentation of honorary tributes, lunch and a visit to the House floor. Anthony shared the following statement in support of the players:
“It was truly an honor to host this group of extraordinary student-athletes and young leaders. They could not have reached this point without perseverance, teamwork and a strong work ethic. I know they will carry these values with them far beyond the football field and long after graduation. It won’t be long until I am visiting them in the halls of power. I look forward to hearing about all the ways in which they leave their mark on our community. Finally, I would be remiss if I did not thank the parents and families of the players for their time and commitment to the team’s success since before the season even began. It is a proud day for Lansing.”
