LANSING, Mich., March 16, 2022 — Members of the House Democratic Caucus held a press conference today to announce another round of bills that protect the right to vote and take down unnecessary barriers between Michiganders and their franchise. State Rep. Brenda Carter (D-Pontiac) is a sponsor of a bill in this package that would allow voters to request email or text updates to track their absentee ballot. Carter issued the following statement:
“The people of Michigan support no-reason absentee voting because it allows more Michiganders to engage with their government, but I understand that voters want to make sure that their ballots reach their destination. Receiving regular updates on their ballot gives voters the peace of mind they need to be confident their vote is counted.”
