LANSING, Mich., March 24, 2022 — The Michigan House of Representatives passed Senate Bill 565 today, putting billions of dollars to work in communities across the state. State Rep. David LaGrand (D-Grand Rapids) voted in support of the bill, highlighting the $2.2 billion in funding for water infrastructure and $55 million for improvements and amenities along the Grand River. LaGrand issued the following statement:
“From PFAS to lead, we’ve allowed our water to be contaminated and neglected our infrastructure for far too long. This bill corrects those many failures and sets us up to ensure that every Michigander, regardless of where they live, has access to clean, drinkable water. We’re also investing in the Grand River Greenway, connecting communities along the Grand River, from Grand Rapids to the lakeshore, and creating new opportunities for recreation, health and businesses. These investments are a step in the right direction.”
