LANSING, Mich., May 10, 2022 — The House of Representatives voted today to send a proposed amendment to the Michigan Constitution to the November ballot. The amendment would require annual financial disclosure from legislators and state officers and change the number of years an individual can serve in the Legislature. After the vote, state Rep. Alex Garza (D-Taylor) issued the following statement:
“It’s long past time that we subject elected officials to financial disclosure requirements. Michiganders need to be able to know whether their representatives come to Lansing to serve their constituents or just enrich themselves. I was proud to cast my vote in favor of this proposal, and I look forward to the voters having their say in November.”
