PONTIAC, Mich., June 22, 2022 — Hospital workers at McLaren Oakland Hospital and members of Service Employees International Union (SEIU) participated in a protest today against unfair labor practices, low wages and short staffing. In solidarity with the striking workers, state Rep. Brenda Carter (D-Pontiac), who participated in the protest today, issued the following statement:
“Our hospital workers were there for us when we needed them most over the last two years. Now it’s time we advocate for them. I’m proud to stand with the SEIU today to support our brothers and sisters who have taken such good care of us in the fight for fair wages, just labor practices and equal opportunities.”
