LANSING, Mich., July 1, 2022 — Today, the Michigan House of Representatives passed the fiscal year 2023 state budget. The finalized budget is the successful result of much negotiation and work on the part of the policymakers. It includes expenditures for contaminated site cleanup across the state, dollars to advance recreation priorities, funding for our students, mental health, and so much more. In response to the approved budget, state Rep. Rachel Hood (D-Grand Rapids) issued the following statement:
“Our local Grand Rapids community and communities across Michigan will benefit immensely from the 2023 budget. I’m especially glad that there are expenditures to improve Michigan’s water, build great trails and recreational spaces, and continue our investments in great schools and quality of life for Michigan. Though no budget is perfect, overall, I’d say this one demonstrates a genuine commitment to Michiganders and a better future for all of us.”
