LANSING, Mich., July 1, 2022 — The Michigan House of Representatives passed a budget that includes significant investments in education, local government services and the economy. Specifically, the state budget allocates $500,000 for a National Association of Yemeni Americans (NAYA) grant. In response, state Rep. Jeff Pepper (D-Dearborn) issued the following statement in support of the budget’s passage:
“My time may be shorter than most state legislators, but my constituents can be rest assured that my top priority is to deliver for them. The grant funding awarded to NAYA in this budget will go a long way in providing behavioral and mental health services to Yemeni Americans. I’m proud to be able to deliver this funding for our community while also voting to increase per-pupil funding for our students and enhance our infrastructure for generations to come.”
