LANSING, Mich., July 1, 2022 — The Michigan House of Representatives passed a budget that includes significant investments in education, local government services and the economy. Specifically, the budget includes $100 million for the Detroit Center for Innovation, $75 million in blight grants and funds to support community-oriented policing. State Rep. Helena Scott (D-Detroit) issued the following statement on the budget:
“I’m proud to support a budget that makes common-sense investments in our community. This funding promises to foster economic development, revitalize neighborhoods and make our community a safer place. This budget sets the right priorities.”
