LANSING, Mich., July 11, 2022 — Organizers for the Reproductive Freedom for All petition delivered signatures to the Bureau of Elections today. The petition would amend the Michigan Constitution to ensure that no one goes to prison for providing safe medical care as well as ensure access to a broad range of reproductive health care, including abortion. State Rep. Kevin Hertel (D-St. Clair Shores) issued the following statement on the delivery of the signatures:
“I am so proud of the thousands of volunteers across our state that came together to collect the signatures that were submitted today. Since the Republican-led Legislature refuses to take action to repeal Michigan’s archaic 1931 abortion ban, it is up to us as Michiganders to make sure the right to reproductive freedom is enshrined in our state’s constitution.”
