“Michigan’s first Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission reached a historic milestone today with the selection of its inaugural commissioners. The work of these citizens will be critical to ensuring fair maps and restoring confidence in the Legislature, which has been undermined by partisan gerrymandering for far too long.
“Our democracy must be representative and reflective of our citizens and communities and not corrupted by hyperpartisan agendas. As this commission begins its important work, Michiganders have a voice in the process driven by voters and not politicians.”
