LANSING, Mich., Sept. 7, 2022 — The 2022-23 state budget included $100 million for the Community Revitalization and Placemaking Grants Program (RAP Program). This program provides competitive grants to eligible real estate rehabilitation and place-based infrastructure projects, public space improvements, and local or regional partners coordinated subgrant programs. The Michigan Economic Development Corp. (MEDC) announced today which projects have been awarded funding, including one in Grand Rapids. In response to the announcement, state Rep. Rachel Hood (D-Grand Rapids) issued the following statement:
“Grand Rapids is receiving nearly $9.4 million in funds to improve housing in our communities. The grant awarded via the RAP Program will address the need for quality affordable housing, making a good place to live more attainable for families in our city. With inflation as high as it is and everyday folks struggling to make ends meet, these funds could not come at a better time. This is yet another recent step in the right direction to ensure all Michiganders have access to a safe place to enjoy family dinner and lay their head down at night.”
