LANSING, Mich., Sept. 9, 2022 — The 2022-23 state budget included $100 million for the Community Revitalization and Placemaking Grants Program (RAP Program). This program allocates grants to eligible real estate rehabilitation and place-based infrastructure projects, public space improvements, and local or regional partners coordinated subgrant programs. These are competitive grants, and the Michigan Economic Development Corp. (MEDC) has announced which applicants have been awarded funding. State Rep. Joe Tate (D-Detroit) issued the following statement to congratulate downtown Detroit Partnership for its Subgrant Program award of $13.7 million:
“With this grant, Downtown Detroit is given the opportunity for new investments — places to live and places for children to play. These infrastructure developments will also encourage small business investments in the area, nurturing the Detroit economy. With the influx of investments comes greater tax revenue, which in turn allows Detroit to continue to propel its own success.”
