LANSING, Mich., Sept. 15, 2022 —The 2022-23 state budget included $100 million for the Community Revitalization and Placemaking Grants Program (RAP Program). This program allocates grants to eligible real estate rehabilitation and place-based infrastructure projects, public space improvements, and local or regional partners coordinated subgrant programs. The Michigan Economic Development Corp. (MEDC) announced that the East Dearborn Downtown Development Authority (DDA) has been awarded almost $800,000 for the development of an outdoor gathering space. State Rep. Jeffrey Pepper (D-Dearborn) expressed his support for the grant, in the following statement:
“I’m happy to hear the news that the East Dearborn DDA has received the RAP Program grant. A new outdoor gathering space in downtown East Dearborn will greatly improve our downtown space, as well as attract more people to it. These funds will make Dearborn the ideal place to spend time with the family and bring more opportunities to connect our community in Downtown Dearborn.”
