LANSING, Mich., Nov. 10, 2022 — The Michigan Economic Development Corp. announced yesterday that the new Ovation Music and Arts Center will receive a $5 million performance-based grant from the Michigan Strategic Fund. The new center will feature a main stage accommodating over 2,000 patrons, retail space, office and studio space for the Lansing Public Media Center, a rooftop bar and restaurant, and multi-purpose community rooms for local nonprofits, school groups and community event rentals. State Rep. Sarah Anthony (D-Lansing) issued the following statement on the grant:
“As Lansing’s state representative, state senator-elect and a lifelong resident, I have seen the effect that decades of divestment have had on this community. The Ovation Music and Arts Center promises to help reverse this trend by creating nearly 160 new jobs, attracting tens of thousands of visitors to Lansing and spurring further development in the downtown area. This is a wise investment in our community, which will help make downtown Lansing a destination for residents, business owners and tourists.”
