LANSING, Mich., June 9, 2023 — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced yesterday that Toyota North America is expanding its facility in York Township. This project is expected to generate a total capital investment of nearly $48 million. The global automaker is also planning to launch a new “Driving Possibilities” STEM initiative, which is a community engagement program focused on preparing youth for the careers of tomorrow. Following the announcement, state Rep. Reggie Miller (D-Van Buren Township) issued the following statement:
“I’m thrilled to see this funding for my district. Investments like these will continue to ensure that Michigan remains the beating heart of the global automotive industry and that we remain the leader in the future of mobility and vehicle electrification. Not only do these funds bring more good-paying jobs to the area, the Driving Possibilities program will create more talent to attract further investment.”
