State Representative John Kivela (D-Marquette) happily announced the passage of Senate Bill 780 today, a supplemental appropriation for the state Natural Resources Trust Fund. Included in the bill were multiple projects aimed at development and land acquisition in the Upper Peninsula.
“I am happy to know that so many wonderful projects will have the funding they need to see success in House District 109,” Kivela said. “Making sure that our communities have what they need to thrive is one of the best parts of my job as a legislator.”
The list of approved projects, by county, is as follows:
Marquette County
• Presque Isle/Harlow/Williams parks development project
• Republic Township’s Munson Park improvement project
• Marquette’s Clark Lambros Beach Park land acquisition
Alger County
• Munising Bay Mountain Bike Trailhead development project
• Munising Tourist Park Campground improvement project
Schoolcraft County
• Manistique River Waterfront North Lot land acquisition
• Manistique River Waterfront Lot US-2 land acquisition
• Manistique River Waterfront Elk St. land acquisition
“Each of these projects will allow U.P. residents to better enjoy the many natural wonders and resources we are surrounded by,” said Kivela. “I look forward to the completion of each project and urge all residents to take advantage of all our area has to offer.”
