Hello Friends,
I hope this message finds you in good health and spirits. As we transition into the crisp and colorful season of fall, I wanted to provide you with an outlook on what’s to come from our state’s Legislature. The fall legislative session promises to be a pivotal period for our community, as we tackle critical issues that affect our lives and shape the future of our great state.
Fall Overview
In the coming months, we will be focusing on a range of topics, including health care access, environmental sustainability, and labor. My goal is to work with whoever wants to get things done. We have bills in committee right now that address the needs and challenges of our families, friends and neighbors. I encourage all of you to stay engaged and informed. You can find more information on legislation that may affect you by clicking here.
Good News for The District
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer recently announced two big wins for our district:
- Global Mobility Supplier DENSO will be investing $63 million to retool production lines in its Battle Creek thermal manufacturing facility. This will support the electrification of vehicles in the years ahead. More than 2,100 employees are based at the thermal facility in Battle Creek, making it one of largest employers in the community.
- Over $5.1 million will go into Battle Creek’s pension fund, protecting the benefits that retired public servants deserve and relieving pressure off the city to cut services that citizens value.
