DETROIT – State Representative Sherry Gay-Dagnogo (D-Detroit), will be hosting a town hall meeting on Saturday, March 21, to discuss overcoming the barriers to higher education, both academic and economic. Titled “Education Town Hall: Increasing Detroit’s Pipeline to Higher Education,” it will have three panels. The first will have college students from Michigan State University, Eastern Michigan University and the Center for Creative Studies. The second will focus on rerouting the school-to-prison pipeline, and will include attorney Todd Perkins, Detroit School of Arts Dean Mayowa Reynolds and former state Representative Thomas Stallworth, now chairman of My Brother’s Keeper. A final panel will focus on college access and community partnerships, and will have representatives from Michigan State University, Eastern Michigan University, Oakland University and Wayne State University.
