Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist, along with the Michigan High-Speed Internet Office (MIHI), have announced the approval of the state’s first-ever Digital Equity Plan by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA). This landmark approval signifies a major step toward eliminating the digital divide in Michigan, aiming to provide every resident with access to affordable, reliable high-speed internet. The plan was developed through a community-driven process involving feedback from over 800 residents, outlining a comprehensive approach to address barriers to high-speed internet, including service affordability and availability, digital skills and the affordability of internet-enabled devices.
