Across the country, individuals are aware of the astronomical costs associated with seeking higher education. Michigan House Democrats have addressed this problem, and many others, with our fiscal 2024-2025 budget. By investing in programs like the Michigan Achievement Scholarship and Michigan Tuition Grant, we’re expanding opportunities for students to secure financial aid for their education. The House budget also broadens funding utilization beyond tuition, empowering students to put resources toward essential needs such as housing, food, child care and transportation. Our budget went further than addressing the financial burdens that come with higher education; we also made investments in primary and secondary education. We included $200 million to continue providing all public school students with breakfast and lunch. Additionally, our budget reduced costs for local school districts, putting more money in classrooms, where it belongs. These are just some of the ways we’re doing more with fewer dollars.
