LANSING, Mich., June 24, 2024 — The Small Business Association of Michigan (SBAM) named state Rep. Jasper Martus (D-Flushing) House Democratic Legislator of the year. SBAM nominates one member from each side of the aisle annually to honor legislators who worked hard on behalf of small businesses. SBAM cited the work done by Martus to ensure that small businesses were included in the research and development tax credit legislative package that passed last year as the main reason for the award. In response, Martus issued the following statement:

“I am humbled by this recognition by the Small Business Association of Michigan. Members of SBAM have been tremendous partners during my time in Lansing. Passage of the R&D tax credit has been one of the proudest moments of my career, and that was only made possible by the advocacy of countless small businesses. I will continue to work hard to ensure that Michigan has an economy that works for all and to ensure our economic landscape uplifts small businesses, so they can continue to thrive.”
