Hello Friends,

I hope this message finds you in good health and spirits. As we transition into the crisp and colorful season of fall, I wanted to provide you with an update from the state’s Legislature. The fall legislative session promises to be a pivotal period for our community, as we tackle critical issues that affect our lives and shape the future of our great state.

Budget Wins for Our Hometowns

I’m proud to announce that the most recent state budget includes funding for the following enhancements to Macomb County. I’ll never stop working to make our hometowns better, enhancing public safety, and providing fun recreational activities.

Utica Police Equipment: $200,000

Sterling Heights Police Vehicle: $750,000

Utica Ambulance: $450,000

Utica Fire and EMT Radios: $300,000

Public Safety Trust Fund: $75 million

Jimmy John’s Field in Utica: $1.5 million

Shelby Township Indoor Sports Facility: $2.5 million

City of Warren Parks and Rec Improvements: $1 million

Police Officers Association of Michigan – Legislator of the Year

I was deeply honored to be named Legislator of the Year by the Police Officers Association of Michigan back in June. Law enforcement officers work tirelessly to keep our communities safe, and it’s been a privilege to support them through initiatives like the Public Safety and Violence Trust Fund and bringing back taxpayer dollars for new police equipment in Utica. I stand with our officers and will continue to work to ensure they have the resources and recognition they deserve.

Community Conversation with Special Guest Rep. Witwer – Chair of the Appropriations Committee

I will be holding a community conversation on Sept. 23 at 10:30 a.m. at Sterling Heights Community Center with a special guest, state Rep. Angela Witwer, Chair of the House Appropriations Committee. You’re invited to come and share concerns, questions or comments.

Your input and feedback are invaluable. I am committed to representing you and advocating to make our state an even better place to live, work and raise a family. I also want to hear from you! Please, reach out to me at NateShannon@house.mi.gov or give my office a call at (517) 373-1794.

Respectfully,

Nate Shannon
