ANN ARBOR, Mich., Sept. 6, 2024 — Today, President Joe Biden visited Ann Arbor to sign an executive order that prioritizes federal grants for projects incorporating strong labor agreements, robust wage standards and essential benefits like access to child care and apprenticeship programs. Following the signing of the executive order, state Rep. Jason Morgan (D-Ann Arbor) issued the following statement:

“President Biden’s decision to sign this executive order in Ann Arbor highlights our advancements in policy that support both unions and working families. Here in Michigan, we’ve been at the forefront of these efforts, cutting taxes for working families and restoring workers’ rights. The Biden administration’s commitment to creating good jobs — jobs that provide security, allow workers to join unions, advocate for better working conditions and ensure they can retire with dignity — reflects the values held by the people of Ann Arbor and the broader Michigan community.

“Just as House Dems have led the way in Michigan with initiatives like the Great Start Readiness Program, Michigan Reconnect and providing no-cost lunches for public school students, this order will help further our mission of putting people first.”
