LANSING — House Democratic Whip Robert Kosowski (D-Westland) testified before the House Regulatory Reform Committee last week as it took up two of his bills. House Bill 4669 would allow Michigan casinos to take bets on sporting events. HB 4670 would allow betting on simulcast horse racing.
“Michigan casinos are losing out on revenue because our current laws don’t provide for betting that is allowed elsewhere,” Kosowski said. “My bills will draw increased activity to casinos in our state, resulting in more economic activity and state tax revenue.”
Kosowski continues to work with his fellow lawmakers to refine the bills. While legislative leaders struggle to find common ground on road funding options, he is looking at unconventional methods to find the money to repair our infrastructure.
