LANSING, Mich., Feb. 5, 2025 — State Rep. Alabas Farhat (D-Dearborn) was appointed to serve as minority vice chair of the House Appropriations Committee, where he will work across the aisle to ensure Michigan’s budget and funding priorities uplift all Michiganders. He was also assigned to serve as a member of the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules and the House Fiscal Agency Governing Committee. After the announcement, Farhat issued the following statement:

“I am honored to serve in this leadership role to build a budget that supports the everyday needs of all Michiganders and to advocate that the budget be passed on time. I look forward to working in a bipartisan fashion to pursue funding priorities that invest in our schools, infrastructure, public safety, and working families. As minority vice chair, I do not take this responsibility lightly — I will work across the aisle to ensure that communities across Michigan receive the funding they need for their schools, businesses, and families to thrive.”
