LANSING, Mich., Feb. 26, 2025 — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer delivered her seventh State of the State Address before a joint legislative session tonight. In her speech, the governor discussed her plan to lower costs for families ahead of looming tariffs, increase the workforce and deliver results for the people of Michigan. After the address, state Rep. Morgan Foreman (D-Pittsfield Twp.) issued the following statement:

“This was my first State of the State Address as a representative and not a staffer. What a surreal experience! I can’t wait to continue to put in the work to uplift our state. What excited me the most about tonight’s address was the continued effort to build up Michigan’s schools during a time that public education is being attacked. My guest tonight was Leigh Greden, chief of staff of Eastern Michigan University and constituent in my district. Supporting not only our school-aged kids, but also our higher institutions is a crucial priority — the governor’s address made that clear.”
