LANSING, Mich., Feb. 26, 2025 — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer delivered her seventh State of the State Address before a joint legislative session tonight. In her speech, the governor discussed her plan to lower costs for families ahead of more looming tariffs, increase the workforce and deliver results for the people of Michigan. After the address, state Amos O’Neal (D-Saginaw) issued the following statement:

“The governor’s address focused on lowering costs, creating jobs and providing tangible results for our communities. From promoting our state’s competitive talent pool to building up our apprenticeship and public education programs, we absolutely must support our workforce. I’m serving my third term as state representative, and I’m still fully committed to ensuring our talent pipeline is stable and growing. Tonight’s event got me even more fired up to continue to do what Dems do best, building people up!”
