Michigan’s Rx Kids cash-assistance program is expanding, offering support to more families in need. Initially launched in Flint, the program is now available in Kalamazoo and will soon be in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. It provides expectant mothers with $1,500 mid-pregnancy and $500 monthly for up to a year after childbirth, aiming to reduce infant poverty and boost economic stability. Rx Kids has already raised over $100 million in funding, demonstrating a promising model for direct aid. As it grows, my colleagues and I are closely monitoring its impact on families across Michigan.
