LANSING — State Rep. Donna Lasinski (D-Scio Township) and state Rep. Jewell Jones (D-Inkster), along with state Rep. James Lower (R-Cedar Lake) and state Rep. Aaron Miller (R-Sturgis), escorted Gov. Rick Snyder onto the House floor today before he gave his seventh State of the State address. Rep. Lasinski attended the address with her husband, Mike Lasinski.

“It was a great honor to join Rep. Jones and my Republican colleagues in personally welcoming the governor onto the House floor today,” said Rep. Lasinski. “As challenges arise in our state this year, it is important that we create and maintain these positive bonds with one another in order to move Michigan forward.”

The governor addressed a joint session of the Legislature on the House floor today to outline his vision for Michigan in 2017. During his address, Gov. Snyder praised the Legislature for their successful bipartisan energy package in 2016, addressed the need for more and better jobs, and acknowledged the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Flint.

“While we do not agree on everything, I was pleased that Gov. Snyder did address many issues of concern to my colleagues and me, including the need to support education at all levels and the need to strengthen Michigan’s economy for everyone,” said Lasinski. “In the coming year, it is imperative that we not only work collaboratively, but remember that the work we do directly affects the lives of people across Michigan. I look forward to working with the governor and my colleagues in the Legislature to fix Michigan’s most pressing problems together.”
