LANSING — State Rep. John Kivela (D-Marquette) announced today that he has been named one of two House co-chairs of the Michigan Sportsmen’s Caucus. He will join co-chairs state Rep. Triston Cole (R-Mancelona), and state Sens. David Knezek (D-Dearborn Heights) and Mike Green (R-Mayville). This is the second consecutive legislative term where Kivela has been name to a co-chair.
“I am very pleased to join my colleagues to lead the Michigan Sportsmen’s Caucus during this session,” said Kivela. “I look forward to meeting with other outdoor enthusiasts in the Legislature, and working with sportsmen and women throughout the state on protecting our natural resources and our outdoor traditions that so many Michigan families enjoy.”
“Rep. Kivela is an invaluable asset to the Michigan Sportsmen’s Caucus,” said Knezek. “As a fellow co-Chair, he is able to share the views from the residents of the Upper Peninsula, ensuring we represent the concerns of people from across the entire state of Michigan.”
The caucus works to promote and protect hunting, fishing and trapping opportunities. The legislators also meet with members of the community to discuss outdoor activities and policies.
