In a joint meeting of the House and Senate Appropriations Subcommittees for State Police, my colleagues and I reviewed the governor’s nearly $700 million MSP budget recommendation. Col. Kriste Kibbey Etue, the director of the Michigan State Police, presented the budget, which emphasized programs to combat sexual assault on college campuses, expand the forensic sciences laboratory, and create grants for police training to be fair and impartial.
As we continue deeper into this budget season, I am looking forward to having an in-depth discussion of budget priorities with an emphasis on secondary road patrols and community partnership.
