LANSING — State Rep. Frank Liberati (D-Allen Park) announced that the city of Allen Park received a grant of $88,860 to be used for public safety enhancements through improved street lighting. The money comes from the Michigan Department of Treasury’s Financially Distressed City, Village and Township Grant Program.
“Allen Park has made tremendous progress over the last several years, and even though the city is no longer under state oversight, I’m glad to see additional support that will help my hometown continue to build on its new financial foundation,” Liberati said.
A state-appointed emergency manager was in place in Allen Park from March 2013 to September 2014. State officials removed the city from receivership last month.
