LANSING — State Rep. Bill Sowerby (D-Clinton Township) was appointed as the Minority Vice-Chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee. Sowerby will accept the appointment originally held by the late state Rep. John Kivela (D-Marquette), who passed away in May and served as Vice-Chair with dedication for the last three years.
“I appreciate and thank House Democratic Leader Sam Singh (D-East Lansing) and Speaker Tom Leonard (R-DeWitt) for allowing me to serve as Minority Vice-Chairman of the Natural Resources Committee,” said Sowerby. “Being a Michigander means that we have a special appreciation for our waters, land, and forests that give us recreational opportunities and provide good jobs for many workers and their families. I look forward to working with my colleagues to protect Michigan’s natural resources and continue good conservation policies.”
